Fully Funded QUEX PhD Scholarship  At University of Queensland

This prestigious scholarship is jointly offered by the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia, and the University of Exeter, United Kingdom, to support high-achieving PhD students working to solve global challenges through cutting-edge research.

The opportunity is open to outstanding students across the world to pursue a joint PhD program and earn a dual degree from two internationally recognized institutions. Successful candidates will conduct research across both continents, working on themes of global importance such as sustainability, digital innovation, and health. Scholarship Overview

  • Scholarship type: Full tuition fee coverage
  • Stipend value: Living allowance of AUD $36,400 per annum (tax-free, 2025 rate)
  • Other supports: Travel and development allowance of AUD $18,000 for the duration of the program
  • Health insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership for international students
  • Study Level: PhD
  • Study Course: Open to various research fields related to sustainability, health, digital technologies, and environmental futures
  • Citizen type: Domestic and International students
  • Number of positions: Multiple
  • Duration: 3.5 years (with a possible extension of 6 months)

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Meet the PhD admission requirements of both the University of Queensland and the University of Exeter

  • Be able to undertake full-time, on-campus study at either UQ (Australia) or Exeter (UK)

  • Be selected by the QUEX PhD Scholarship selection committee

  • Not already hold a PhD

  • Part-time study options are available for domestic students under special circumstances (e.g., caring responsibilities, health issues)

Selection Criteria 

Applicants will be assessed based on:

  • Academic excellence in previous degrees

  • Alignment of proposed research with QUEX Institute themes

  • Research potential and interest demonstrated through past experiences and/or publications

  • Motivation and commitment to undertake joint, international doctoral research

  • Quality of fit with proposed supervisor(s) at UQ and Exeter

  • Communication and collaboration skills essential for cross-institutional work

  • Remote sensing for pit lake monitoring

  • Digital human exercise coach

  • Electrochemical Lithium Extraction (ELITE)
