UOW Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) Award 2025-2026

This prestigious scholarship is funded by the Department of Education and Training to support outstanding domestic and international research students in Australia. The AGRTP aims to cover living expenses and support students pursuing a Doctoral degree or a Master of Philosophy at the University of Wollongong (UOW).

The opportunity is open to both current and future students from diverse faculties, providing them with financial support and academic encouragement to excel in their chosen fields of study.

  • Scholarship type: Full stipend cover 
  • Stipend value: $35,522 per year (non-taxable), indexed annually
  • Study Level: Doctoral degrees and Master of Philosophy
  • Duration:
    • Doctoral degree: 3.5 years full-time
    • Master of Philosophy: 2 years full-time
  • Study Areas: Humanities, Social Sciences, Education, Engineering, Environmental & Biological Sciences, Health, Computer Science, Law, Management, Marketing, and more.
  • Eligibility: Open to domestic and international students (current and future students)
  • Number of positions: Limited positions available, allocated on merit

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for the AGRTP, applicants must:

  1. Be commencing or currently enrolled in a Doctoral degree or Master of Philosophy at UOW.
  2. Meet the entry requirements for their chosen degree program.
  3. Be Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, Australian Permanent Residents, or international students.

Selection Criteria 

The selection process is merit-based and considers the following factors:

  • Academic achievements from previous studies (e.g., grades, rank, or distinctions)
  • Research potential and alignment with chosen field of study
  • Relevance of the chosen program to prior qualifications
  • Professional experience relevant to the research field
  • Recommendations from referees
  • Demonstrated research skills through publications or presentations
