UNE Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) International Stipend Scholarship 2025
The Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) International Stipend Scholarship is designed to support outstanding international students pursuing Higher Degree Research (HDR) programs at accredited Australian Higher Education Providers (HEPs). This competitive scholarship is aimed at fostering academic excellence and enabling research students to focus on innovative and impactful projects in Australia.Scholarship Overview
- Scholarship Type: Living allowance stipend
- Stipend Value: AU$36,862.00 per annum (2025 rate), tax-free, paid fortnightly
- Other Supports:
- Additional financial support for research-related activities
- Paid sick leave, maternity leave, and parenting leave
- Study Level: Masters by Research / Doctoral Degree
- Study Course: Open to all accredited HDR courses
- Citizen Type: International students
- Number of Positions: Varies by institution
- Maximum Duration:
- 3.5 years for Doctoral Degrees
- 2 years for Research Masters
- Health Insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) as per the National Code of Practice

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:- Be international students enrolled full-time in an accredited HDR course at an Australian HEP.
- Not be receiving another source of income that exceeds 75% of the RTP stipend rate for general living costs.
- Not be receiving an equivalent Commonwealth-funded award or scholarship for tuition fee offset.
- Meet all requirements for HDR admission at their chosen institution.
Selection Criteria
The selection process is merit-based, considering the following factors:- Academic achievement in prior studies (e.g., GPA, ranking).
- Research experience and potential for innovative contributions in the chosen field.
- Relevant professional experience in the field of study.
- Quality and relevance of previous research publications (if applicable).
- Referee reports demonstrating research capacity, work ethic, and academic potential.

How to Apply
New Candidates:
- Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the online application portal of your chosen university. Processing may take up to three weeks.
- Receive an invitation to apply for candidature and scholarship.
- Complete the application for candidature and scholarship simultaneously.
Current Candidates or Those with Offers of Admission:
- Complete the scholarship application form online via the university's designated portal (e.g., askUNE for enrolled students).
Required Documentation
- Completed HDR candidature and scholarship application forms.
- Two referee reports submitted directly by referees to the university.
- Research proposal outlining the scope and impact of the proposed study.
- Certified academic transcripts and English language proficiency proof.
