Vice-Chancellor's Leadership Scholarship (VCLS)
The Vice-Chancellor's Leadership Scholarship (VCLS) is designed to reward high-achieving secondary school students who demonstrate excellence in academics, leadership, and community engagement. This prestigious scholarship, offered by Western Sydney University, aims to foster the academic and leadership potential of recipients through mentorship and support from The Academy, an exclusive program that provides access to resources for personal and professional growth.
The scholarship is open to Australian citizens, permanent residents, and eligible New Zealand citizens who plan to pursue an undergraduate degree at Western Sydney University. Applicants must show exceptional academic performance, leadership capabilities, and active involvement in their community.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Citizenship:
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen (as defined under HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP criteria).
- Enrolment:
- Be a new student enrolling in an undergraduate program at Western Sydney University.
- Academic requirements:
- Achieve a minimum ATAR of 90 (Regional Bonus, Subject Bonus, and other bonus points are not considered).
- Leadership and community involvement:
- Demonstrate leadership qualities and involvement in community activities (e.g., School Captain, community service, sports, arts, public speaking, or awards such as Duke of Edinburgh).
- Additional:
- Have applied for a course as their first preference through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) or the Western Portal.
Selection Criteria
The selection process is competitive and considers the following:
- Academic excellence: High ATAR score or equivalent.
- Leadership and community engagement: Evidence of active participation in leadership roles and community service.
- Application statement: A well-written statement explaining how the scholarship will support the applicant’s academic and career goals, detailing their background and current circumstances.
