University of Tasmania International Scholarships 2025-2026

This prestigious scholarship is sponsored by the University of Tasmania to support exceptional domestic and international research students. It offers the opportunity to pursue a Master’s or PhD degree by research in various disciplines at one of Australia’s leading universities.

The scholarships are awarded competitively based on academic merit, research potential, and other relevant achievements. Priority is given to new candidates focusing on strategic research areas.

Scholarship Overview

  • Scholarship type: Fully funded
  • Stipend value: AUD $33,511 per annum (latest rate, indexed annually on January 1st).
  • Relocation allowance: Up to AUD $2,000 to assist with costs of relocating to Tasmania.
  • Other allowances: Minor supplementary awards or income from part-time work within university guidelines may be permitted.
  • Study Level: Masters/PhD by Research
  • Study Course: Open to all research disciplines, including Arts, Law, Business, Health, Medicine, and Engineering.
  • Citizen type: International and domestic students
  • Number of positions: Limited
  • Duration:

    • Master’s: Up to 2 years (no extension available).
    • PhD: Up to 3.5 years (no extension available).
  • Deadlines:
    • December 4, 2024
    • February 1, 2025
    • July 1, 2025

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Demonstrate English proficiency.
  • Be citizens of any country worldwide.
  • Have completed at least four years of tertiary education, achieving at least an upper second-class Honours degree or equivalent.
  • Be enrolled full-time in a research Master’s or Doctoral degree in 2025.
  • Not receive another equivalent scholarship or award exceeding 75% of the base RTP stipend rate.
  • Be eligible even if they’ve previously completed a degree at the same or higher level; however, priority will be given to applicants without such qualifications.

Selection Criteria 

Scholarships will be awarded based on:

  1. Academic Excellence: Achievements in prior studies, such as grades and ranks.
  2. Research Potential: Evidence of ability in the chosen field.
  3. Relevance: Alignment of the research program with prior education and experience.
  4. Professional Experience: Related work experience, if applicable.
  5. Recommendations: Strong references from previous academic or professional referees.
  6. Research Skills: Demonstrated through publications, projects, or other scholarly activities.
