Adelaide Refugee & Humanitarian Undergraduate Scholarship 2025
The University of Adelaide offers the Adelaide Refugee & Humanitarian Undergraduate Scholarships to support students from refugee backgrounds facing financial hardship. This initiative helps these students achieve their academic aspirations by providing financial assistance and a supportive environment for their studies.
The scholarship is open to commencing undergraduate students who hold specific humanitarian visas and have not previously undertaken university studies in Australia. Successful applicants will receive a 100% tuition fee waiver and additional financial support to enable them to focus on their education and future career goals.
Scholarship Overview
Scholarship Type: Full Tuition Fee Waiver
Additional Benefits:
- Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF): Fully covered.
- One-off Payment: $2,500 to assist with initial study costs.
Study Level: Undergraduate
Programs Eligible: All single undergraduate programs of 3-4 years, excluding: - Medical Studies, Dentistry, Oral Health
- Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy
- Veterinary Bioscience
- Double, Combined, or Concurrent Degrees
Citizen Type: Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holders and International Students with specific refugee visa statuses.
Duration: Up to 10 years (includes part-time study).
Deadline: Applications close at 5 PM, Friday, 24 January 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Gain admission to an undergraduate program commencing Semester 1, 2025 (i.e., hold a valid Letter of Offer and meet all academic and English language proficiency requirements).
- Be holders of one of the following visas:
- Bridging Visa E (BVE)
- Temporary Protection Visa (subclass 785)
- Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV)
- Provide evidence of financial capacity to support themselves during study.
- Meet any conditions outlined in their Letter of Offer before the scholarship application closing date.
Preference will be given to South Australian residents if ranking is required based on academic achievement.
Selection Criteria
The selection process will consider:
- Academic achievement in prior studies.
- Compliance with visa and financial requirements.
- Priority for South Australian residents.
Scholarship recipients must take up the award in the year it is offered, as deferrals are not allowed.
How to Apply
- Apply for admission to an eligible undergraduate program at the University of Adelaide.
- Once admitted and in possession of a Letter of Offer, complete the scholarship application form.
- Ensure all conditions outlined in the Letter of Offer are fulfilled, including any English language requirements, before the scholarship application closing date.
- Submit your application via the University’s online scholarship portal by 5 PM, 24 January 2025.
