About the Positions

UWA International Postgraduate Scholarship 2024-2025

The University of Western Australia (UWA), with funding from the Government of Western Australia, offers a prestigious scholarship for high-achieving international students. This opportunity supports students who wish to commence and pursue postgraduate studies at UWA, one of Australia's leading institutions.

This scholarship is available for students from eligible countries who have demonstrated academic excellence, community engagement, and leadership potential.

Scholarship Benefits and Value

• Scholarship Type: Tuition fee reduction
• Value: Up to $50,000 applied to tuition fees
• Study Level: Postgraduate coursework
• Study Course: Open to selected postgraduate courses (excludes certain 1–1.5 year programs as outlined in the eligibility criteria)
• Citizen Type: International students from eligible countries (list provided below)
• Number of Positions: 1 scholarship per round, with two rounds per year
• Duration: Minimum of two years of full-time study
• Status: Open
• Applications Close: CLOSED

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

1. Have applied for and received an offer to study a postgraduate course at UWA as an onshore international student.
2. Commit to full-time studies for at least two years (excluding specified 1–1.5 year programs).
3. Meet the requirements for obtaining an international student visa for Australia.
4. Commence studies onshore for the semester in which the scholarship is awarded.
5. Be a citizen of one of the following countries:
   • Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, China, Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Nepal, Oman, Republic of Korea (South Korea), Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, The Philippines, The United Arab Emirates, The United Kingdom, Vietnam.
6. Not have commenced or completed prior studies in Western Australia or entered through packaged, foundation, or English language pathways.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed based on:

• A written statement (500-1,000 words) outlining how the scholarship will benefit their academic and professional goals.
• Evidence of community service.
• Documentation of recognition or awards for academic, community, or sporting achievements.

How to Apply

1. Prepare the following documents:
   • A written statement (500–1,000 words) detailing the benefits of the scholarship and its role in your future plans.
   • Evidence of community service.
   • Proof of academic, community, or sporting achievements.
2. Submit your scholarship application through the UWA online portal when applications open on 1 August 2024.
3. Ensure your application is complete and submitted before 29 November 2024.
