QUT Equity Scholarships Scheme 2025
The Queensland University of Technology (QUT) offers the Equity Scholarships Scheme, providing financial support to students who experience financial hardship. The scheme, funded by contributions from QUT’s Learning Potential Fund, includes scholarships, bursaries, and resources like computers to aid students in their academic journey.
The Equity Scholarships are available to both domestic and international students, including those commencing or continuing their studies at QUT. Only one application is required to be considered for all scholarships under this scheme, with additional awards based on financial need.
Scholarships Overview
Scholarship type: Financial support and resources
Scholarship values for domestic students:
- Semester 1: Equity Scholarship of $4,200 (one year, in two payments of $2,100 per semester)
- Semester 2: Equity Scholarship of $2,100 (one semester)
- Equity Bursary: $1,800 (one semester or one year)
- Equity Computer: An internet-capable computer (available every third year)
Scholarship values for international students:
- Semester 1 and Semester 2: Equity Bursary of $1,800
- Equity Computer: An internet-capable computer (available every third year)
Named Learning Potential Fund Scholarships (awarded in Semester 1 for domestic students):
- Scholarship of $7,500 per year (up to four years; limited availability)
- Scholarship of $5,000 per year (up to four years; limited availability)
- Alahakoon Amini-Moghadam Learning Potential Fund Scholarship available for international students
Study Level: Undergraduate, postgraduate, or research programs
Study Course: Open to all study areas
Citizen type: Domestic and international students
Deadline: Semester 1 applications open mid-December 2024
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a current or future domestic or international student pursuing an undergraduate, postgraduate, or research qualification at QUT
- Be from a low-income household and experiencing financial hardship
- Additional eligibility for QUT College students studying diploma programs may apply with guidance from the QUT scholarships team
Eligible Programs: All study areas are considered for this scholarship.
Personal hardship considerations may include:
- Personal medical conditions
- Disabilities
- Dependents with special needs
This scholarship is not available to:
- Single-unit study students not enrolled in a full QUT course
- Cross-institutional students who are enrolled at another university
- International QUT College students or students in foundation, undergraduate certificates, or English language courses
Selection Criteria
The selection process for this scholarship will focus on:
- Individual financial situation and income
- Personal hardship or special circumstances
- Applications are reviewed based on financial need, and the number of scholarships available will determine the cut-off score for eligibility
How to Apply
- Submit a Single Application: Complete and submit the Equity Scholarship application form to be considered for all scholarships within the scheme, including Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships if applicable.
- Documentation and Review: After submission, applications are evaluated based on supporting documentation, with decisions typically provided within one month.
- Deadlines and Notifications: Applications for Semester 1, 2025 open in mid-December 2024, and applicants are notified of the outcome after evaluation.
