About the Positions

Griffith University Rachel Hunter Refugee Scholarship 2025

This scholarship opportunity is offered by Griffith University to support commencing students who hold humanitarian visas and have experienced financial hardship or educational disadvantage that has impacted their ability to achieve their full potential.

Named in honor of Ms. Rachel Hunter, a long-serving Griffith University Council member and former Deputy Chancellor, this scholarship provides financial assistance to undergraduate students to help them thrive academically and personally.

 Scholarship Overview

• Scholarship Type: Partial tuition fee waiver
• Stipend Value: $20,000
• Other Supports: May include mentorship and access to additional academic resources
• Study Level: Undergraduate
• Study Courses: Open to all undergraduate study areas
• Citizen Type: Refugee students from all nationalities
• Number of Positions: Limited slots
• Duration: Valid for up to the duration of the bachelor’s program
• Deadline: 16 December 2024

Eligibility Criteria 

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Hold refugee status or have recently arrived in Australia under a refugee/humanitarian visa
• Be enrolled or planning to enroll in an undergraduate program at Griffith Unversity
• Demonstrate financial need and a strong commitment to academic success

Eligible Countries: All nationalities
Eligible Study Program: Any undergraduate program offered at Griffith University

Selection Criteria 

Scholarships will be awarded based on:

1. Demonstrated financial need and refugee status
2. Academic performance and potential
3. Personal statement reflecting commitment to education and future goals
4. Recommendations or references supporting the application
