CSU Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) International Scholarships 2025

The AGRTP International Scholarships are funded by the Australian Government in collaboration with Charles Sturt University (CSU) to attract highly qualified international postgraduate researchers with demonstrated academic excellence and research potential. These scholarships provide financial assistance to international students pursuing higher degrees by research (HDR) on a full-time basis at Charles Sturt University campuses, covering tuition fees, a living stipend, and other research-related expenses.

This scholarship is highly competitive and is open only to students who meet specific eligibility requirements. 

 Scholarship Overview

  • Scholarship Type: Full-time, covering tuition fees
  • Stipend (Full-Time): $35,000 annually (2024 rate)
  • Relocation Allowance: Up to AUD $5,000 to assist with relocation for the student, spouse, and dependents to a CSU campus
  • Health Insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policy for the scholarship holder (does not cover dependents)
  • Citizen Type: International students
  • Duration: Up to three years for a PhD/Research Doctorate and two years for a Research Masters
  • Application Deadline: Applications for Session 2, 2025, close at 5:00 pm AEDT, Friday, 24 January 2025

Eligibility Criteria 

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be commencing or currently enrolled in a Charles Sturt University HDR program
  • Be enrolling or enrolled as a full-time student studying on a CSU campus

Note: AGRTP International Scholarships are not available to candidates who:

  • Are concurrently enrolled in any other program unless deemed essential for the HDR’s success or approved under exceptional circumstances
  • Are receiving another Commonwealth-funded postgraduate research scholarship

Charles Sturt University ranks scholarship applicants based on the following considerations, as detailed in the Scholarship Application Guide:

  • Academic achievements, such as grades and ranks from prior studies
  • Research potential in the candidate's chosen field
  • Relevant professional or research experience
  • Relevance and alignment of the research to prior studies and future goals
  • Recommendations from academic referees affirming the applicant’s research capabilities
