Deakin University is currently accepting applications for its prestigious Research Training Program (RTP) and Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarships (DUPRS) for the 2025 academic year. These scholarships offer both domestic and international students an exceptional opportunity to pursue advanced research at one of Australia’s leading universities.

Whether you are at the beginning of your research journey or looking to further your studies, these scholarships provide substantial financial support, enabling you to focus on your research and academic goals.

Scholarship 

  • Scholarship Type: Full tuition fee offset
  • Stipend Value: $34,400 per annum (2024 rate) 
  • Relocation Allowance:
    • $500 - $1,500 depending on individual or family relocation
  • Health Insurance: Single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for international students for the duration of the student visa
  • Study Level: PhD or Research Master’s Degree (HDR)
  • Study Course: Open to all study areas
  • Citizen Type: Domestic and international students
  • Number of Positions: Not specified
  • Duration:
    • Doctoral Degree: Up to 3 years for the stipend and up to 4 years for the tuition fee offset
    • Research Master’s Degree: Up to 2 years for both the stipend and the tuition fee offset
  • Application Deadline: 6 October 2024

Eligibility 

To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in, or plan to enroll in, a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) course at Deakin University.
  • Not be receiving another equivalent award or scholarship designed to offset HDR fees.
  • Not be receiving income from another source that exceeds 75% of the RTP or DUPRS stipend rate for living costs related to your study.

Additionally, applicants must have:

  • Completed at least four years of tertiary education.
  • Achieved an 80% average or equivalent in the research component of their previous study.
  • Met the minimum entry requirements for an HDR program at Deakin University.
  • Current HDR students at Deakin are eligible, provided they have not completed more than 3 years of their doctoral course or 2 years of their master’s course.

The selection criteria for these scholarships are based on:

  • Academic Merit: Achievements in previous study programs (e.g., grades, class rank).
  • Research Potential: Demonstrated research skills and experience in your field of study.
  • Relevance of Research Proposal: How well your proposed research aligns with your previous studies and current academic goals.
  • Professional Experience: Relevant work experience in your field of study.
  • References: Strong recommendations from previous academic mentors or employers.
