The University of Queensland is sponsoring the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship to attract and support high-achieving students in their pursuit of undergraduate studies. This scholarship opportunity is available to both domestic and international students, emphasizing academic excellence and leadership.

The scholarship is designed to provide financial support to students completing Year 12 or taking a gap year before starting their studies. It allows recipients to focus on their education and personal development while studying at one of Australia's top universities.

Eligibility Criteria for UQ Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants are expected to:

  • Achieve a minimum ATAR of 99.90 (or equivalent).
  • Complete Year 12 in 2024 or 2023 (if you’re on a gap year).

And either of the below:

  • Be an Australian citizen or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder; or
  • Be an Australian Permanent Resident, New Zealand Citizen, or international student who is completing or has completed Years 11 and 12 in Australia.

Additionally, applicants should:

  • Not have completed any previous tertiary study other than as part of your Year 11–12 studies (e.g., Enhanced Studies Program).
  • Apply for a tertiary place through QTAC and have UQ listed as your 1st QTAC preference.
  • Intend to enroll as a full-time student in a UQ undergraduate program in 2025 (or 2026 if deferring your tertiary place).

The selection criteria for this scholarship will be based on:

  • Academic excellence (ATAR score or equivalent).
  • Leadership skills and community service involvement.
  • The relevance of the chosen program to the student’s previous study or experience.
  • Extracurricular achievements and activities.

How to Apply

  1. Apply via the UQ application portal: You can save your application and return to it at any time.

  2. You'll need:

    • Your QTAC Application number.
    • Evidence of your most outstanding achievements from Years 11 and 12 in the areas of leadership and community service.

What Happens Next

  • UQ will email you to acknowledge receipt of your application. If you have not received an email within 2 days of applying, please email UQ at scholarships@uq.edu.au.
  • You will be notified in writing of your award if you meet the eligibility requirements upon the release of ATAR (or equivalent).
