The Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarships are funded by the Australian Government and are designed to support both domestic and international students in pursuing Research Doctorate and Research Masters degrees. Monash University, one of Australia’s leading universities, offers the RTP Fees-Offset as part of this program, which covers tuition fees that would otherwise be payable by the student. This scholarship opportunity is aimed at students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance and research potential.

Scholarship Overview

  • Scholarship Type: Full tuition fee cover.
  • Stipend Value: Between $37,100 to $53,200 annually, if combined with an RTP Stipend.
  • Other Supports: Single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policy for international students.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • For Domestic Students:
    • Be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, or Australian humanitarian visa holder.
    • Meet the eligibility criteria for admission to a research degree at Monash University.
  • For International Students:
    • Be an international student.
    • Meet Monash's competitive scholarship selection process requirements.
    • Meet Monash English language proficiency requirements.

Note: RTP Fees-Offsets cannot be transferred between higher education providers.

Eligible Countries: All nationalities (with specific conditions for domestic and international students).

Eligible Course or Study Program: Any program or research area offered at Monash University.

Additional Considerations: This scholarship is also available to students undertaking Joint Research Awards when Monash University is the home institution.

How to Apply

  1. Prepare Your Application: Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria for the RTP Fees-Offset and gather all necessary documents, including academic transcripts and research outputs.

  2. Submit Application: Applications for graduate research scholarships are submitted at the time of applying for your course, unless you are already enrolled. Both new and current students use the same application process via the Monash Applicant Portal. There is no need to specify which scholarship you are applying for, as you will automatically be considered for all graduate research scholarships for which you are eligible.

    • For Domestic Students: If applying only for a RTP Fees-Offset and not a living allowance scholarship (such as a RTP Stipend), no separate scholarship application is necessary.

    • Application Rounds:

      • International (Round 1): Closes 31 March
      • Domestic (Round 2): Closes 31 May
      • International (Round 3): Closes 31 August
      • Domestic (Round 4): Closes 31 October
