JCU Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Scholarships 2024-2025
James Cook University (JCU) offers Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Scholarships to support exceptional research students in Australia and globally. These scholarships aim to attract high-quality students to contribute to impactful research across diverse fields at JCU.
The scholarships are available for both domestic and international students pursuing a Master's by Research or PhD at James Cook University. Below are the detailed benefits and eligibility criteria for these scholarships.
Scholarship Overview
- Scholarship Type: Full tuition fee cover
- Stipend Value: Living allowance of AUD 29,000 per year
- Other Supports:
- Relocation allowance of AUD 2,000 for students moving within Australia, or up to AUD 5,000 for students moving from overseas.
- Research support grants for project-related expenses.
- Health Insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
- Study Level: Master's by Research / PhD
- Study Course: Open to various study areas, including but not limited to marine biology, tropical ecology, medicine, public health, and environmental science.
- Citizen Type: Domestic and international students
- Number of Positions: Limited
- Duration: Up to 2 years for a Master's by Research, and up to 3.5 years for a PhD

Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:
Have applied for and met the entry requirements for a graduate research degree at James Cook University, or
Be currently enrolled in a graduate research degree at James Cook University.
Eligible Countries: All nationalities are eligible for this scholarship.
Eligible Course or Study Program: Any program related to the research focus areas of JCU.
