Charles Darwin University RTP Scholarships 2024-2025

This scholarship opportunity is sponsored by the Australian Government to support outstanding research students from both Australia and around the world. The Charles Darwin University RTP Scholarships are available for students enrolling in a Higher Degree by Research (Masters/PhD) program at Charles Darwin University (CDU). This fully funded opportunity is designed to help students develop the skills necessary for successful careers in academia and various other sectors, while also fostering collaboration between higher education providers, industry, and other research stakeholders.

The scholarships are open to both domestic and international students. Successful applicants are required to commence their research program at CDU between January 6, 2025, and March 31, 2025.

  • Stipend Value: Living allowance of AU$32,192 per year for full-time students (2024 rate, tax-free); AU$16,096 per year for part-time students (2024 rate, taxable)

    • Funding for research-related costs, including library, laboratory, and technical staff expenses
  • Study Level: Masters/PhD by Research

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants are expected to:

  • Be eligible to enroll in a full-time Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program at Charles Darwin University
  • Meet the academic entry requirements for a Master’s or Doctorate degree by research at CDU
    • For a Doctorate scholarship, applicants must have completed both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree
    • For a Master’s scholarship, applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s degree
  • International applicants must provide evidence of meeting CDU’s minimum English language proficiency requirements (refer to the University Entry Requirements page for details)
  • Not be receiving any other financial support that exceeds 75% of the RTP stipend rate
  • Demonstrate exceptional research potential suitable for an HDR program

Selection Criteria

The selection criteria for this scholarship are merit-based, with consideration given to factors such as:

  • Academic achievements from previous study programs
  • Research potential in the chosen field of study
  • Relevance of the chosen program to previous studies
  • Relevant professional experiences
  • Recommendations from academic referees
  • Demonstrated research skills through publications or other academic work

  • Carefully select the application option (Candidature only; Candidature & Scholarship; or Scholarship only)
    • Select “Candidature only” if applying for a PhD program by Prior Publication

  • Review the checklist at the end of the form to ensure all required information is provided
  • Attach all supporting documents to the application
  • Submit the application form, which will be automatically sent to degrees@cdu.edu.au and your email address

Documents Required

  • A copy of your current passport, birth certificate, or residency visa for proof of citizenship
  • Photocopies of official academic transcripts and certificates for all previous tertiary study
  • Evidence of supervision, including email correspondence with your potential supervisor
  • A research outline of 1500-1700 words on the proposed research project
  • HDR referee report forms filled by two academic referees
  • A current CV
  • Supporting documents, including publications or portfolios
