University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship 2024

The University of Melbourne is offering the Human Rights Scholarship to support students dedicated to the advancement of human rights. This fully funded scholarship is available to both domestic and international students who are undertaking a graduate research degree in a human rights-related field.

University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship Benefits and Value

  • Scholarship type: Full tuition fee cover
  • Stipend value: Living allowance of approximately $42,000 per year 
  • Other supports: Relocation allowance of $2,000 for students moving from States or Territories other than Victoria or $3,000 for students moving from outside Australia.
  • Health insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) 
  • Study Level: Masters/PhD by Research
  • Study Course: Research degrees focused on human rights
  • Citizen type: Domestic and international students
  • Number of positions: Approximately 2-3 awards each year
  • Duration: Up to 2 years for a Masters by Research degree and up to 3.5 years for a PhD

Eligibility Criteria for University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship 2024

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants are expected to:

  • Have applied for and met the entry requirements for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne, or be currently enrolled in a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.
  • Intend to undertake graduate research in the field of Human Rights.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the peaceful advancement of human rights, beyond academic studies, through voluntary work and/or professional experience.
  • Have not completed a research qualification at the same or higher level as the course for which the scholarship is sought.
  • Intend to study full-time unless there are compelling circumstances that prevent full-time study.

Eligible Countries: All nationalities are eligible for this scholarship.

Eligible course or study program: Any graduate research program at the University of Melbourne, with a focus on human rights.

Selection Criteria for University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship 2024

The selection criteria for this scholarship will be merit-based, focusing on:

  • Achievements from your previous study program (e.g., score, rank, etc.)
  • Research potential and demonstrated commitment to human rights
  • Relevance of your chosen program to human rights advocacy
  • Relevant professional experiences
  • Recommendations from previous referees
  • Research skills demonstrated through publications or projects related to human rights

How to Apply for University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship 2024

Application Process and Deadline:

  1. Apply for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.
  2. Submit a separate application for the Human Rights Scholarship through the university's scholarship portal.
  3. Application deadline: October 31, 2024
