Co-funded Monash Graduate Scholarship 2025 

The Co-funded Monash Graduate Scholarships (CF-MGS) are provided by Monash University to support outstanding international students undertaking Research Doctorate and Research Master’s degrees. These scholarships are co-funded by Monash University and the enrolling faculty/academic unit to help support students with living costs while studying at Monash.

The scholarships are awarded through a highly competitive selection process where academic record, research output, and research experience are assessed. This opportunity is open to both domestic and international students who meet the eligibility criteria.

Scholarship overview

• Scholarship type: Full tuition fee cover

• Stipend value: Living allowance of $36,063 per year pro-rata, which may be indexed annually

• Other supports: Relocation allowance for eligible students

• Health insurance: Faculty tuition-paying scholarship for successful international applicants

• Study Level: Masters/PhD by Research

• Study Course: Open to all study areas

• Citizen type: Domestic and international students

• Number of positions: Varies annually

• Duration: Up to 2 years for Masters by Research degree and up to 4 years for a PhD

• Deadline: August 31, 2025

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

• Be one of the following:

  • An Australian citizen

  • A New Zealand citizen

  • An Australian permanent resident

  • An Australian humanitarian visa holder

  • An International student

• Meet Monash’s competitive scholarship selection process requirements

• Meet Monash’s English language proficiency requirements

Selection Criteria 

The selection criteria for this scholarship are merit-based and consider:

• Academic achievements from previous study programs (e.g., scores, rankings, etc.)

• Research potential and experience in the chosen field of study

• Relevance of the chosen program to previous studies

• Professional experience in the relevant field

• Recommendations from academic referees

• Research skills demonstrated through publications or projects

3. The application for a graduate research scholarship is done simultaneously with the course application unless the applicant is already enrolled.

4. All eligible candidates are automatically considered for all graduate research scholarships at Monash.
