Flinders University International Research Scholarships

Are you an international student looking for opportunities in Australia for 2024? If you are interested in postgraduate research scholarships, then this is for you.

Applications are currently open for fully funded Masters research and PhD scholarships at Flinders University Australia. Multiple positions are open for all eligible international students to undertake Master or PhD degree programs within any field of choice.

Flinders University has two main International Research Scholarship programs for all international students. This includes: 

  1. Flinders International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (FIPRS) and
  2.  the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship(AGRTPS)

FIPRS is a scholarship specifically intended to support international students, funded the Flinders University. The FIPRS  covers international tuition fees and also provides a stipend. The AGRTPS on the other hand is a Commonwealth Sponsored Scholarship. 

The AGRTPS includes an international tuition fee offset, a living stipend and Overseas Health Care cover. The successful recipients of these scholarships are required to undertake full-time study and must be commencing a higher degree by research in Australia for the first time.

  • Establishment allowance:  up to $1,485  to assist with relocation costs and airfares

  • Country: open to all nationalities/Gender
  • Scholarship Duration: up to 2 years for a  masters program, up to 3 years for a doctoral program 
  • Application Deadline: 04-08-2023

AGRTPS scholarship overview

  • Scholarship type: Full tuition fee cover
  • Stipend Value:$33 000 p.a, paid every fortnight stipends

  • Health Insurance: Overseas Health Care cover(OSHC)
  • Degree Program: Masters/PhD
  • Field of study: All study areas

  • Application Deadline: 04-08-2023

Eligibility Criteria for these scholarships

To be eligible for the Flinders University International Research Scholarships (FIPRS, AGRTPS), applicants:
  1. Must be an International student
  2. Intend to commence full-time study for a higher degree by research in Australia for the first time, in the year for which the award is to  be offered
  3. Intend to enrol in an area of research concentration.  These are areas in which the University has a particular strength, has concentrated its research resources and has attracted external funding
  4. Meet all the entry requirements to undertake a higher degree by research(MSC/PhD) program at Flinders University, including the minimum English Language Entry Requirements 

The Selection Criteria

The Flinders University International Research Scholarships (FIPRS, AGRTPS) are very competitive. The scholarships are awarded to applicants who demonstrate outstanding aptitude for independent research. The successful applicants are selected on the basis of: 
  • academic merit,
  •  academic research training and 
  • research indicators and performance.

Other important application details

  • Applicants must successfully secure a potential supervisor. Applicants who do not have a supervisor at the time of application will not be considered for these scholarships. Find a Research Supervisor
  • Academic Transcripts. Applicants must provide certified copies of all university-level academic transcripts, which should be all in English.
  • Research Proposal. Applicants must include a research proposal of approximately 500 words in length, outlining the problem, hypothesis or question and the methodology or approach.
  • Academic Referees. Two academic Referees
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Publications.
