University of New South Wales International Research Scholarships
Multiple fully funded Masters and PhD research scholarships are available
at the University of New South Wales via the International
Research Scholarships. The scholarships are available to support eligible
international students to undertake Masters by research or doctoral programs
within any field of choice across the University.

The University of New South Wales has three types of scholarships open
for international students annually. This includes:

Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship

University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA)

Tuition Fee Scholarship (TFS) plus a Research Stipend
These scholarships provide tuition fees support, health cover and stipends
as shall be detailed below. The University of New South Wales has three
scholarship application rounds per year. Applicants need to allow adequate
time between the receipt of their offer(Admissions) and the Term Start Date
for pre-departure preparations such as the acceptance process, visa
processing, travel, and enrolment.
Applicants who are applying for a scholarship through UNSW should submit
their application (and all required documentation) by the following
deadline:

1. Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship
RTPS scholarships are funded by the Australian Government and available to
applicants via hosting Universities. The RTP scholarships would provide full
tuition support, and a living stipend of $ 37,684 per annum (2024 rate),
including an Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) to all the successful
recipients. RTP scholarship is available for the duration of 3.5 years for
PhD students and 2 years for research master's students.

2. University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA)
The University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA) scholarships
are funded by the University of New South Wales. They are open to
supporting high-achieving international students to undertake Masters by research
and PhD degree programs within any field across the University. UIPA
provides tuition support for a duration of up to 3.5 years for a PhD and 2
years for a research Masters

3. Tuition Fee Scholarship (TFS) plus a Research Stipend
The Tuition Fee Scholarship (TFS) is a particular type of scholarship program.
The TFS are invite-only scholarships and are usually open for some
specialist programs. The TFS Tuition Fees are funded by UNSW while Stipends
are funded by the Faculty, School or Supervisor for a duration of up to 3.5
years for a PhD and 2 years for a research Masters. The TFS requires
Supervisor, School or Faculty funding, so it is recommended you discuss
potential stipend funding with your supervisor
Eligibility Criteria for UNSW International Research
Scholarships
There are a number of eligibility requirements applicants must ensure they
meet in order to be eligible for a scholarship at UNSW:

Applicant must be an International student intended to enrol on a
full-time basis Higher Degree by Research program ( Masters or PhD) at the
University of New South Wale

Applicants must have met the entry requirements for a Higher Degree Research program for which they are enrolled at UNSW as specified in the Admission to Higher Degree Research Programs Procedure

Candidates must not be receiving an equivalent award or scholarship from
the Commonwealth the government intended to offset tuition fees.

How to apply for UNSW International Research Scholarships
Applications are submitted online via the UNSW
Application Portal. Interested applicants can apply for a scholarship at the time of
submitting an application for a research degree program. To apply for a
scholarship, simply indicate that you would also like to be considered for a
UNSW scholarship on your application for admission to a program, and select
your preferred scholarship application round. You will be considered for all
of the above scholarships.
To be considered for a scholarship at the University of New South Wales,
prospective applicants must ensure that they apply for the scholarship
before the advertised deadline of the scholarship round.
