MRIWA postgraduate scholarships in mining research
Are you looking for funded opportunities in the mineral industry? are you
interested in a postgraduate research study relevant to the minerals
industry in Western Australia?
The Mineral Research Institute of Western Australia(MRIWA) invites
applications for postgraduate research scholarships in any disciple/area
relevant to the minerals industry in Western Australia. The MRIWA scholarships are intended to encourage and enable students of
exceptional research promising to undertake higher degrees by research within
any university of choice in Western Australia.
The MRIWA scholarships would provide generous stipend support of up
to $38,689 per annum for up to three years of study (with the potential for
extension) for successful recipients. Including some additional support for
research and other expenses linked to your studies. The successful
applicants will equally be exposed to tailored training and
professional development workshops, mentoring and networking
opportunities with leading innovators operating in the minerals
industry.

The MRIWA scholarships are tenable at any university in Western Australia and are awarded to support
research affecting any eligible aspect of Western Australia’s minerals
industry, including:.

Improving the discovery rate of economic mineral resources;
-
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the mining industry;
- Strategic and critical mineral commodities;
- Lowering the carbon footprint of steel production;
-
Alternative uses of mine tailings and mineral by-products;
- Reducing the environmental impact of mining;
-
Direct capture of greenhouse gases through mineral carbonation.
Two types of scholarships are available for international students:

The MRIWA Odwyn Jones PhD Scholarship. Open to all
applicants. Both international and domestic

MRIWA PhD Scholarship for Women. Open to women applicants
only, both international and domestic applicants are
welcome.

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must :

Be undertaking research relevant to the minerals industry of Western
Australia

Meet the criteria for admission to a relevant Higher Degree by
Research program at an eligible university, and have applied for entry
into that program. See

Meet all specified eligibility criteria for the scholarship(s) you
are applying for

Have submitted a completed application form and research proposal to
MRIWA
Selection criteria
The MRIWA scholarship will be awarded based on a competitive selection
process. The successful recipients will be selected based on
