About the position:
Australian Government Research Training Program (RTPS) 2024, University of Tasmania
There are multiple fully funded Masters and PhD scholarships available at the University of Tasmania through the Australian Government Research Training Program 2024. These scholarships are open to all eligible international students who are interested in pursuing a research degree Masters or PhD in any course of their choice at the University.
The scholarships are available for all fields of study across the University, and applications for research degree programs are accepted throughout the year. However, students must check with individual faculties or colleges for the scholarship deadline. The scholarships are awarded twice a year and cover full tuition fees as well as providing a living allowance for successful recipients.
The RTPS scholarships are highly competitive and are awarded based on merit and research potential.

Please be advised that the University of Tasmania Australian Government Research Training Scholarships (RTP) is open for applications all year round. However, it is essential to keep in mind that every college has its specific deadlines for its degree programs. Hence, we strongly encourage applicants to check the scholarship closing dates for each round for each college before applying. The 2024-25 admission has two rounds available, with Round 2 currently accepting applications. The deadline for this round is indicated below.

Eligibility Criteria for University of Tasmania RTPS
To be eligible for the University of Tasmania RTPS scholarships:

Applicant must be an overseas candidate enrolled in an accredited
Higher Degree by Research at the University.

Applicants must not be receiving income from another source to support their
general living costs while undertaking their Higher Degree by Research if
that income is greater than 75 per cent of the candidate’s RTP Stipend
rate.

Applicants must be ready to start by the date stated in their offer letter
Refer to the University of Tasmania for details on course entry requirements and English language proficiency for international students.
Selection criteria for the University of Tasmania RTPS
The University of Tasmania RTPS scholarships are awarded through a competitive
selection process. Priority will be given to applicants who meet the following
criteria:

hold an Australian or New Zealand bachelor’s degree with first-class honours
or qualifications and/or research experience deemed equivalent by the
University,
-
have a proposed project in an area identified by the University as one of
the research strengths,
- have not already completed a Doctoral degree or equivalent,
-
have not already completed a Master of Research degree or equivalent unless
intending to undertake a Doctoral degree, and/or
-
have not previously held an Australian Government or University-funded
Postgraduate Research Award for more than six months.
