Forrest PhD scholarships are currently open to all eligible students from any nationality or country. Applications are encouraged from both international and local students with strong and outstanding research potentials. The scholarships are open to students from all research background and field to study in any of the five Universities in Western Australia. The scholarship has main goal to attract the brightest minds around the world to undertake research in any of these top Western Australia Universities:

Curtin University
Edith Cowan University
Murdoch University
Notre Dame University (Fremantle Campus)
The University of Western Australia

Forrest Scholarships will provide the successful applicants with generous financial supports to comfortably undertake their studies in Australia including opportunities for professional developments, mentoring etc... Research scholarship stipend value: $28,597 per annum (2021 rate) indexed annually
Accommodation allowance: $21,447 in 2021 and subject to annual indexation
Travel allowance: up to $12,000, plus economy airfare to Perth for scholar and immediate dependents.
Health cost : Overseas Student Health Cover(OSHC) for international students

Eligibility criteria for Forrest PhD Scholarships

Forrest PhD Scholarships are very competitive, open to students with strong innovation, interest in research and with outstanding research capabilities. To be eligible for Forrest PhD Scholarships, interested applicants are expected :

To must have applied for PhD enrolment as an internal student based at a Western Australian campus of one of the five specified Western Australian universities named above
To be eligible to enrol full-time at a Western Australian university by the date of commencement of the scholarship.
To have had an outstanding academic score/ranks in their undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Interested applicant must have a bachelor’s degree of First Class Honours standard or equivalent, such as a GPA of at least 3.8/4.0.
International applicants must also meet the minimum English entry requirements

Applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of their chosen field of study, excellent research and communication skills. The Proposed doctoral research research topic should be innovative and exciting. More details can find at the conditions of the scholarship document.

The selection procedure

All applications will be assessed on the basis of applicant's academic achievements. This include :

exceptional ability, resourcefulness and resilience
originality and significance of proposed research
ability to communicate their passion for research
desire to use research to have a positive impact on Western Australia and the wider world

The successful recipients will be selected by a Selection Committee
