Postgraduate scholarships at the University of Western Australia  support graduate research training by enabling international students of exceptional research promise to undertake higher degrees by research at in this premier research institution in Western Australia. The Australian Government RTP Scholarships is open for all international students intending to undertake research in UWA. International students can apply for research scholarships to undertake  postgraduate study in all disciplines across the University. RTPS scholarships support full tuition cover and include other financial benefits

Eligibility Criteria for RTP scholarship UWA

Interested applicants applying for the RTP scholarships are expected to meet all the University entry requirements and conditions. See details here please Australian Government International RTP Fees Offset Scholarship Conditions

• meet the requirements for entry to the nominated degree, 
• Meet the requirements of the UWA’s Policy on Adequate Research Preparation and English language requirement;
• be eligible to enrol or be enrolled in a HDR with at least 66% research component, at UWA;
• not expect to receive another equivalent award or scholarship to undertake the proposed study which is greater than 75% of the stipend rate; and
•  be available to take up the scholarship if offered, by the advertised date

Selection criterial for  RTP scholarship UWA

After a competitive selection process, scholarships will be awarded by the selection committee base on on the following criteria :

1. previous academic achievement 
2.  research potential. This will based on  relevant research experience, research output, other research related achievements and publications, if applicable

Priority will be given to applicants who do not fall in the following category :

1. previously completed a Research Doctorate or equivalent;
2.  previously completed a Research Masters degree or equivalent, unless intending to undertake a Research Doctorate;
3. previously held an Australian Postgraduate Award, Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) or an Australian Government-funded Postgraduate Research Award (excluding an IPRS and International RTP) previously, unless it was terminated within six months of the commencement of benefits; UWA Research Scholarships - Advice for Applicants Page 3 of 12 CRICOS Code: 00126G
4. previously been awarded, or currently be in receipt of, a current scholarship stipend; a UWA International Fee Scholarship (UIFS); a Scholarship for International Research Fees (SIRF) or other scholarship designed to offset HDR fees.

As part of the application process the school must confirm that your proposed research topic is in an area of research strength that is well supported by external research funding. It must also be able to provide appropriate expertise and supervision for your project.

Applying for a research degree scholarship is a whole process and you must know these processes to be successful. You must know what it takes to be successful so that you don't keep on wasting your time.  Below is how the process goes and what you must consider to be successful :

• Once you have identified your study interest the next thing to do is to check the requirements and see that you meet them before starting your application. By now you should already know about some standard requirements for research degree programs abroad.
• If you meet the requirements, the very next thing will be to Contact potential supervisors to discuss your study interest and see that you get their approval. See how. Without this in some Universities, your application won't even be considered
• The next step is to prepare a captivating research proposal. See how. This is extremely important also. This is being done to see your research potentials and skills. If you are the right candidate for that position
• Then at same time, Finding  referees as you will need recommendation letters. Referees are hard to get, contact them ahead of time and don't stop reminding them until the D-day 
• Once every thing is ready, before you submit your application, ask your friends or colleagues to help review your application supporting documents such as statement of purpose, research proposals etc.. When all is done, go ahead and submit your application
