About Australia Awards- Africa scholarship program
The Australia Awards- Africa are prestigious international scholarship
programs sponsored by the Australian government as part of the development
assistance program for Africa. Australia Award Scholarships (AAS) are
offered to the next generation of global leaders for development. These
scholarships grant access to high quality postgraduate education, training
and professional development opportunities to all qualified Africans from a
list of countries. One of the major goal of this program to enable
successful applicants to gain skills and knowledge that be used to
contribute in the development of their home countries and also to foster the
link between Australia and Africa
Australia Awards types for Africa
Two main kind of awards currently exist for the Australia Africa Awards
2020 2021

Masters Scholarships: Australia Awards scholarships for Masters level
degrees, undertaken in an Australian University. Find
list of Australia Universities here. Australia Awards Scholarships for study in Australia are offered
to high-caliber future leaders across
public, private and community sectors

Australia Awards Short Courses: targeted post graduate training in
professional courses that are undertaken in Australia and/or an African
country. This can be up to two months
The awards have very strong focus on equality and representations. People
of all gender especially women and people with disabilities are highly
recommended to apply.
Priority sectors for Australia Awards Africa
The aim of the program is to direct focus on activities brings innovations
and advancement in
agricultural productivity, extractives , and public policy
sectors
These scholarships therefore focus on the following sectors :

Agriculture, fisheries and water

Building resilience: humanitarian assistance, disaster risk reduction and
social protection

Effective governance: policies, institutions and functioning

Eligibility For Australia Awards Africa Master scholarships
2021-2022
To be a successful applicants for Australia Awards you must demonstrate
some professional, leadership and other personal qualities, outstanding
academic competence and above above all show great potential to be able to
impact on development challenges faced by your home country
To be considered for a Australia Awards Masters Scholarship or Australia
Awards Short Course, it is expected that applicants meet their
country’s eligibility requirements first. The following general requirements
also greatly apply

Citizen of an eligible African country. Must be from one of the eligible
countries( total 11)
Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria,
South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia

Minimum academic requirement: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
-
Mid-level to senior-level professional, currently employed in a relevant
field
-
Meet relevant post-graduate work experience requirements
-
For Australia Awards Short Courses, applicants must be at least 25 years
and not older than 55 years by 30 June 2021.

For Australia Awards Masters Scholarships, applicants must be at least 25
years and not older than 52 years at the date of application.
-
For Australia Awards Masters Scholarships, applicants must be applying
for their first master’s degree.
-
Demonstrate a clear vision of how the knowledge gained through the
scholarship will be used to improve policy, practice or reform in their
home country
-
Satisfactory English proficiency to enable full participation in a
training course delivered in English
-
Satisfy all requirements of the Australian Government for the appropriate
student visa (subclass 500).
